Import Transactions

Import Transactions

Since import is the reverse of export operations in a way and we focus on exports, we will not focus on imports as much as exports, but it is also useful to know. Since countries do not have the capacity and ability to produce all the products consumed around the world, it is natural for them to outsource items such as raw materials and finished products that appeal to the end user. As a result, if we close ourselves to imports by acting with the logic that our money should not go abroad, we will in a way isolate ourselves from the world. Today and in the past, all countries with strong economies have an important role in global currency circulation not only with their exports but also with their imports. Developed countries with strong economies owe their wealth to outsourcing in a way. As you know, the production sites of the famous brands we consume today are in developing, underdeveloped or underdeveloped countries. USA,  Countries such as England and Germany are at the top of the list in terms of imports as well as exports. In short, we can say that a 100% export-import coverage ratio is desirable in terms of foreign trade.

Import is the actual import of a good or economic value within the framework of the applicable customs legislation and relevant regulations, and the transfer of the import amount to the exporting country within the framework of foreign exchange legislation, excluding free import.

We can divide the import into three as paid, free and temporary imports.

  1. Paid import: enters the import defined above.

  2. Free import: It is called not transferring the cost of imported goods abroad. There are various reasons such as the free goods or the fact that the price was paid abroad.

  3. Temporary importation: The goods entering our customs borders are kept within the Turkish customs borders for a certain period of time without going into free circulation and paying the tax –or partially paid.
